It’s fall in many places of the world, and while Trinidad & Tobago does not experience the seasons like that—we only have wet and dry seasons here—I do feel myself wanting to slow down and do a lot less as the year goes on.
It feels less like a hibernation and more like a brumation—when reptiles lower their metabolism and chill out for a couple of months. They don’t quite go to sleep.
This year, I’m feeling that slowing down earlier than I did last year.
It could be because I’m beginning my AuDHD assessments next month, and I want to save up my energy. Or maybe it’s because it’s closing in on the anniversary of my mental breakdown last year, when I got an MDD diagnosis after years of chronic, debilitating anxiety and depression, and I’m still processing that. I’m also gonna be celebrating a birthday next month in the midst of all that, by the way.
Either way, ya girl is NAHT ignoring her trusty intuition, and I’m working on creating a series of threads here for you, my community, to engage with so y’all don’t forget me while I’m in my brumation.
And of course, I’ll be sharing my practical tips and insightful experiences about slowing down, and balancing rest and productivity.
For now, I don’t really have any insightful tips for slowing down at the end of the year! This is the first time I’m trying something like this, so maybe this will inspire some of you to try it out. Y’all know I love experimenting, so I’m experimenting to find out if this is a good way for me to balance rest and productivity.
Have you found a balance between rest and productivity? (whatever productivity means for you!)
What’s one way you’re balancing rest and productivity as we head into the end of the year?
P.S. I’ll still be taking on client work during my brumation! So if you need to de-Frankenstein your Notion workspace, get a custom workspace built, or wanted to pick my brain about something, reach out to me!
