Besties, there's no article today
Well I mean there is cos you’re seeing this but that’s not what I meant
Since I started this newsletter in May I’ve been banging out articles weekly. Impactful stories, amazing tips, the works. This week as I was looking at my content planner in Notion and seeing all these drafts of great ideas, I felt no spark to write and flesh any of them out.
Like, sure they’re great and sure you’d probably get value from it but they didn’t spark joy for me.
I rolled over so many ideas in my head, and a couple friends were giving me prompts that were so good, bestie. They’re really good.
And I just didn’t wanna write a single article from those prompts.
So what’s this article about then? Well last week I was feeling so overwhelmed about ✨life✨ that I took a Creature Day. It’s a day where you treat yourself like a base animal and not a human being with responsibilities or whatever.
If you’ve read my post on ways to take care of your mental health, having a Creature Day is similar but more fun.
The idea is to treat yourself like an animal. Any animal will do. A dog, a horse, a dolphin, whatever. The important thing to know is that your creature needs you to take care of it. Give it food, water, a comfy place to rest, a clean environment, and my favourite, enrichment time.
I chronicled some of my Creature Day last week on Threads so you can get an idea of what it’s like.
For me having a day (or more) to just be a weird animal brings me back to myself, calms my anxiety and makes me feel more human. That might sound weird cos we’re humans, not animals, but that’s sociologically.
On a biological level, we’re just nature like everything else and we need time to just be nature without all the silly, arbitrary shit that comes with living in a society.
Anyway, this is my non-article article that I didn’t plan on being profound and insightful but ended up being that way anyway LOL
